To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), the AMC has organized a Virginia to Maine relay hike. The AMC’s historic relay hike comes through Orford on Wednesday, July 15th.

In collaboration with the AMC, the Orford Conservation Commission has organized a special “150th Anniversary Hike” up Mount Cube to meet the AMC Relay Team as they cross the summit. Joining our hike will be noted AMC Historian/Archivist Becky Fullerton who will give a Mount Cube summit talk on the history of the AMC and Appalachian Trail.

The Orford Conservation Commission hike will be on Wednesday, July 15th, the day the AMC Relay hike travels the Appalachian Trail through Orford. We will meet at the Cross Rivendell Trail head on Baker Road at 10 AM for our hike. Bring your lunch and snacks. We will eat lunch at the summit for Becky’s history talk.
